On The Menu
By Tonya Jone Miller | November 25, 2009
Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but for some reason this year I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do. I had many generous invitations, but in the end it just doesn’t feel right NOT to cook. So today I made an eleventh hour trip to the grocery store, and now I’m all stocked up. Of course I had to get started- the pumpkin pies are cooling, the sage stuffing is prepared and ready for baking, and my famous (at least in my family) cranberry sauce is in the fridge. The complete menu…
Roast Turkey
Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
Sage Stuffing
Cranberry Sauce
Green Bean Casserole
Buttered Cut Corn
Biscuits
Pumpkin Pie w/ Fresh Whipped Cream
It’s pretty standard, but then that’s what I want this time of year. And I don’t do salad for Thanksgiving. I mean, really. What’s the point? It’s just a waste of valuable stomach real estate. I wouldn’t bother with the biscuits for the same reason, but Howard likes them. There will be enough food for ten people, even though it’s only going to be Howard, Mom, and me. A dear friend is in town from L.A. with her hubby, and they’re stopping by, but I have no idea if they’re planning to eat with us or not. I don’t care- leftovers are the best part! We’re going to chow down in the mid-afternoon. Then we’re heading over to another friend’s house for a little socializing. And pie. Yay pie! I’m pleased with how everything came together at the last minute. I plan to enjoy myself immensely and eat my face off. *grins*
I hope you all have much to be thankful for. I know I do.
