Snickerdoodles
By Tonya Jone Miller | July 2, 2008
Today I made my favorite cookies for our Fourth of July barbecue. They are super easy to make and really delicious…
Snickerdoodles
3 T. white sugar
1 T. cinnamon
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 t. vanilla
2 1/2 c. white flour
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. salt
2 t. cream of tartar
Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Mix sugar and cinnamon, set aside. Cream shortening, butter, and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla, set aside. Sift flour, baking soda, salt, and cream of tartar together. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Form dough into balls about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Roll in cinnamon sugar mix to coat generously. Place two inches apart on a non-stick cookie sheet and press down slightly so the dough is flattened into 3/4 to 1 inch thick discs. Bake for 7 minutes at 400 degrees. Recipe makes about 3 dozen cookies. Enjoy!
