    Restaurant Review: Belly Timber

    Monday, September 1st, 2008

    ***Originally posted at PortlandFood.org***
H and I had a delightful meal here the other night. I’ve been wanting to try BT for months, but my best nights for eating out now are Sundays and Mondays. Anyways, finally made it in early on Friday and ordered:
    house charcuterie plate
    small order of pierogis
    small order of pan-seared halibut
    small order of [...]

    To My Secret Admirer…

    Friday, July 18th, 2008

So there’s a little flame war going on a few posts back, and I thought I’d share my latest response before I put the whole mess to bed…
“I posted your entire comment, including your IP number, to show you I am not afraid of people who are too chickenshit to use their real name and face to back [...]

    Restaurant Review: Casa Naranja

Being in the neighborhood, I knew we’d try this place sooner or later since the hours and location make them convenient. No problem getting a table at 4pm on a Friday, but I’d advise against sitting inside on a hot day. The lack of air conditioning or any kind of breeze made [...]

Sort of NSFW: Switching (& July 4th)

    Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

Well well well.  Write a little story about dominating someone, and you better be prepared to hear about it from people who are accustomed to making you their whining, pleading bitch of a fucktoy.  LMFAO!  You know you you are.  *wink*  It’s fun to switch when it suits my mood, what can I say?
Unfortunately, it appears if I want to [...]

Restaurant Review: Sel Gris, pt. 2

I just experienced the most OBSCENELY good meal I’ve eaten in recent memory. Apparently someone tipped the chef off to my sweetbread dilemma, because soon after we sat down, they were presented to us without me even having ordered them. Well how could I refuse? Truly spectacular combination of flavors and [...]

    Restaurant Review: Carlyle

    Saturday, March 29th, 2008

    ***Originally posted at PortlandFood.org***
I finally made it to happy hour at Carlyle this past week myself for the first time. Love the space- it’s really sleek and modern without being cold. I ordered:
    4 pomegranate-glazed pork ribs
    3 oysters
    butter lettuce salad
    butternut squash arancini
    toasted rosemary cocktail
The pork ribs were perfectly cooked and tender without being too fall-apart messy. [...]

    Restaurant Review: Simpatica (brunch)

    Thursday, March 20th, 2008

Finally made it to Simpatica for brunch this morning. Since I was alone, I just wanted to get in, eat, and get out. Got there at 8:50a and was seated as soon as they opened. I ordered:
    banana pancakes w/ bacon
    coffee
I like how they actually put coffee and cups out before they open [...]

    Restaurant Update: The Belgian Embassy

An update for those of you who care…
Food has gone pretty far downhill since Kris left and the service hasn’t gotten any smoother either. I can’t tell when they’re going to be open or closed as their business hours seem pretty erratic. Never a good sign. Lots of people come by to [...]

    Restaurant Review: Piazza Italia

H was craving red-sauce-Italian last night, the kind of places he grew up on in New Jersey, so on a lark we headed to…

    Restaurant Review: Serratto

    Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

    ***Originally posted at PortlandFood.org***
On the prowl for a pre-rehearsal meal that wouldn’t break the bank, last night I hit happy hour at Serratto…
Lovely space. Really airy and inviting, basked in the glow of candles. Perfect for a date, but not exclusively romantic. I didn’t feel out of place reading the paper and dining solo, but [...]
